Tailgate Time is an Arkansas nonprofit created to provide mental health support, resources, and connection for farmers, agricultural workers, their families, and others in hard-working industries where asking for help may not always come easily.
Built around the idea that some of the most meaningful conversations can happen at the tailgate, Tailgate Time takes a practical, approachable approach to mental health. The organization works to bring conversations about stress, depression, anxiety, and other mental health challenges into the open while reducing the stigma that can prevent people in agricultural and rural communities from reaching out for support.
Recognizing the unique pressures facing those in agriculture—from financial uncertainty and unpredictable markets to long hours, isolation, family responsibilities, and the demands of maintaining a farming operation—Tailgate Time is designed to meet people where they are. Licensed counseling support is available at no cost, with options that include telehealth as well as meeting individuals in settings where they feel comfortable.
More than simply raising awareness, Tailgate Time is working to make mental health care accessible, confidential, and relevant to the realities of agricultural life. Through education, outreach, professional support, and community connection, the organization is helping farmers, farm families, and agricultural workers know that seeking help is a sign of strength—and that no one has to carry the weight alone.
At its heart, Tailgate Time's message is simple: Take a load off. Talk it out. You matter.
Mandy Young, LCSW, brings nearly two decades of experience in mental health and social work to the Q3 Arkansas Delta Community Connections meeting. Since 2007, she has worked across veteran and civilian healthcare settings and outpatient mental health agencies, providing support to individuals and families while also helping develop and implement new programs and services.
Her clinical experience includes grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, health-related concerns, and marriage and relationship support. Mandy’s background in program development has also given her valuable experience in building services from the ground up and identifying practical ways to connect individuals and communities with the support they need.
Raised in a farming and small-town community, Mandy brings a personal understanding of rural life to her work. Her approach is grounded, practical, and compassionate, with a willingness to meet people in some of life’s most difficult moments and offer understanding, connection, and hope.
Through her work with Tailgate Time, Mandy is helping bring greater awareness and support to the mental health challenges facing farmers, agricultural workers, their families, and rural communities. Her passion for serving both men and women and helping individuals move toward healthier, fuller lives makes her perspective especially meaningful for communities throughout the Arkansas Delta.
