Greene County is not currently represented by a County Liaison with Arkansas Delta Community Connections (ADCC)—and we would love to see your community at the table.
County Liaisons serve as a voice for their county, sharing local updates, needs, resources, and opportunities while helping connect communities across the Arkansas Delta. This role is a meaningful way to support collaboration, strengthen partnerships, and ensure your county is included in regional conversations that impact health, education, and community growth.
If you are passionate about your county and want to help make a difference, we encourage you to get involved. Together, we can build stronger connections and a healthier future for the entire Delta.
Greene County, Arkansas—located in the northeastern portion of Arkansas near the Missouri border—is a county shaped by agriculture, manufacturing, and steady regional growth. Established in 1833 and named after Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene, the county has developed from an early farming region into an important economic center within Northeast Arkansas. Its combination of fertile farmland, transportation access, and expanding industry has helped position Greene County as both a traditional agricultural community and a growing hub for commerce and manufacturing.
The county includes communities such as Paragould (county seat), Marmaduke, Rector, and Oak Grove Heights, with Paragould serving as the county’s primary center for business, healthcare, education, and industry. Agriculture remains foundational to the local economy, particularly rice, soybeans, corn, and other row crops, while manufacturing and industrial development have expanded significantly over recent decades. The county’s proximity to larger regional markets and major transportation corridors continues to support economic growth and workforce development opportunities.
Greene County has a population of approximately 45,000–46,000 residents, with continued residential and commercial growth occurring in and around Paragould. Expanding industries, healthcare systems, and education services have strengthened the county’s economy, though some rural areas continue to experience economic and workforce challenges. While household incomes in portions of the county have grown alongside industrial development, disparities remain between more developed areas and smaller rural communities, where access to employment opportunities and essential services may be more limited.
As the county continues to expand, challenges involving healthcare access, behavioral health services, workforce shortages, and infrastructure demands remain important considerations. While Paragould provides a strong regional healthcare presence, access to specialized care and mental health services can still present challenges for some residents, particularly in rural areas. Broadband connectivity has improved throughout much of the county, though infrastructure gaps still affect portions of the rural population. Housing affordability, transportation access, and continued workforce development also remain ongoing concerns tied to long-term regional growth.
